Six Ways of Being
as related by the Bush Community of the 20th Generation.

Symbols by Jade Dragon, Twilit Majz of the Second Generation

Six Ways of Being - the Ways of Being are the various functions performed by its participants which allow a society to be healthy. Each member of Sanctuary chooses their own Way within society (individuals can choose multiple ways of being).

Deklamohedrin - Functionaries.

These are the bedrock of Wanderer culture. They are the logistics experts, the craftspeople, the detail-oriented ones, those who organize and execute the systematic exploration of our world. They are the masters of making and unmaking things. Generally travel by daylight. They are interested most passionately in things that can be seen, touched, measured, worked with directly.

Ektazian - Healers.

of mind, heart, body, will, and spirit. Healers of trans-species relations, healers of the ecosystem. Those who set things back into balance. Ektazians wander by twilight.

Chandorean - Transminders

Peacebringers / Transminders (able to comprehend multiple mind and heart realities). Each mind is unique. If it is lucky, it understands itself. Chandoreans not only understand their own minds, but are able to absorb the patterns in other minds.

Chandoreans wander by twilight in order to better understand the diverse minds they become bridges between.
Conversant in many languages (the language of Love; the language of Commerce; the language of Conflict, the language of Art, the language of Medicine, etc.), Chandoreans are empaths, diplomats, arbiters, and the ultimate communicators. They are The Dancers Between. They are the glue of wanderer culture, creating strong bridges of understanding between individual Wanderers; forging unity from dichotomy.

A Chandorean Wanderer must possess the Patience of the forces of erosion; relentless and enduring; wearing away at resistance. They must value and embrace Trust and must have a first impulse to Listen rather than speak, for there is no surer path to understanding.

As a worker, a Chandorean’s power is largely about harmonizing. It is a magnificent power to walk into a room filled with conflict and to embody calm. Peacebringers play the mind energy of those around them like harps, striking notes to create chords, chords to create melodies. The energy that is created by living minds is not something to manipulate or control, it is something to resonate with. For that reason, Chandoreans allow themselves to be moved by the thoughts and emotions of others. They must be adept at reading positive and negative thoughts and emotions, then setting them into balance for the sake of self and group preservation.

This is a difficult thing for a Chandorean to do, because it is a heartfelt belief that Wanderers must honor mutually created energies. We call this The Third Thing. When two Wanderers interact, each projects their individual thoughts and passions. The product of that interaction belongs to neither one. It is a Third Thing, unique unto itself and revered for its contribution to the whole society.

Ez Perjezlah - The Boundary Masters.

Guardians of Clarity and Choice. Twilight wanderers.

The Boundary Masters are among the most sensitive and highly trained Wanderers. They protect the sanctity of choice by offering themselves up as the ground within which other individuals can come to an understanding of their own strengths and limitations, thereby enabling them to make more constructive, conscious choices. In order to be effective, the Ez Perjezlah must fully merge with the individual with whom they are working. Navigating the seas of emotion and the structures of thought within their partner and holding the line of choice and clarity in the face of the kind of objections the Ez Perjezlah are likely to encounter is a dangerous gambit. They have been known as the Masters of Suicide at times, because the fears and limitations they stimulate in others in order to create clarity can cause they themselves or the person they are testing to experience thoughts and emotions of a killing intensity. Even the most skilful Ez Perjezlah can lose their partner to suicide, or they themselves can be wounded to the point of suicide. More commonly, the partner and the Ez Perjezlah will experience wounds or healings of greater or lesser intensity. Occasionally they will experience the thunderbolt path to clarity and healing....as rare an occurrence as actual self-destruction. The Ez Perjezlah work with their partners until they attain clarity or self-destruct (literally or metaphorically) and take themselves out of the Field of Choice. The Ez Perjezlah's willingness to offer themselves up in this way for the good of all is greatly honored among Wanderers.

Any member of the general population who wishes to enter into a Wandering community must undergo a merge with an Ez Perjezlah to illuminate their strengths, limitations, and degree of clarity. Delusion is a form of suicide the Ez Perjezlah exist to help prevent.

Majz - Transformers.

Twilight Wanderers. In every generation many are born who replicate what they have been taught and what they have experienced, but some are born who transform what they learn and what they experience so that something new is born...guided by their own dreams and the Dreams of the Deznahdoreans, the Majz create the vehicles of thought and imagination which transport the Wanderers from the known through the unknown and back to the known again. They navigate easily between the world of the imagination and reason, between what is and what might be, between the night and the day.

Deznahdorean - Dream Masters.

Generally travel by night.

The Deznahdoreans are the Dream Masters. Dreams exist not as a distraction, but as a means to an end. That end is creation -- the drawing into materialization of things previously existing only in the unconscious. The Dream Masters sift through and organize the deep structures of the mind into fields and lines of force suitable for manifestation, not only on a personal, but a community-wide level. The great task of the Deznahdorean is to continuously sift through the Field of the Unconscious -- the Field of Dreams to speak metaphorically -- to detect ideas that have the greatest chance of being materialized for the good of all. This requires ending wishful thinking and the projection of personal desires and a total commitment to the good of All. It has been said of the Deznahdoreans that they sit in the Void (the unmanifests) and watch the arising of All Things.

The Deznahdoreans interface most readily with the Chandoreans and the Ez Perjezlah. They also are capable of interfacing with Ektazians and the Majz, though these interfaces work best in the presence of a skilled Chandorean. Most Functionaries (Deklamohedrin) find Deznahdoreans incomprehensible, though in Wanderer culture, due to the efforts of the Chandoreans, they have come to trust them implicitly. A Chandorean must be present for successful interface between Deklahmohedrin and Deznahdorean to be established and maintained.

There is another Way of Being which I have not mentioned. Wanderers believe Life creates The Field of Choice, and that Life calls each person to their particular Way from by virtue of their genetic and environmental heritages. Those who shut out this call with distractions of various kinds are referred to as the Refusorians -- those who refuse the Inner Call.

Metaphors and Notes on the Realms (Day, Night, Twilight).
From the writings of Tzirth, Twilit Deznahdorean of the First Generation.

(From these notes the mental tools of the Realms were developed (Day, Night, Twilight) by E’Lora, Twilit Majz of the Second Generation.)

Wake-scapes (The Day Realm), Dream-scapes (The Night Realm) and Fate (The Twilit Realm)

First let me say that my waking and dreaming experiences live in my memory side by side, inextricibly intertwined. I remember the dreams of a particular time as vividly as I remember the waking experiences of that same time, and the two together have contributed equally in shaping my choices throughout my life. In many instances I have had dreams many years prior to an event, and only realized the true significance of the dream at that later time. One such dream I had when I was eleven particularly stands out. I was in a dark room hunched over an object that my fingers were tapping on. In front of me was a glowing phosphorescent screen. In this dream, I was soaring across the world talking to many hundreds of people simultaneously via the glowing screen. I was eleven in 1967. I believe this dream was about my current relationship to the personal computer and the internet. Yet, in 1967, I was living in Darmstadt, Germany, and had never heard of or seen a personal computer. Indeed, I had only had a one year period of my life in which I had even seen television (1963), because my parents were in the US Air Force and we had the good fortune to be stationed in places where TVs were uncommon (like Puerto Rico), and my parents weren’t interested enough by television to put up with the expense of one until I was a teenager.

I have found that dreams can be treated like secrets, they can be used to create an intense gravity well around which our waking lives revolve, shaping our destinies and our choices until they are brought out into the light. Unlike some kinds of secrets which fester inside and snarl one’s life around a nest of terrors and denial, dreams can be like jewels we harbor inside through which outer events are focused until there comes the time and place during which they are best revealed in order to dispel their power and make room for a new fulcrum.

From my experiences with waking and dreaming states I have concluded the following:

We have a “Wakingscape.” In this realm, information from the outside world is organized by the layers of the brain that have evolved to operate in place of instinctive behaviors (those behaviors hardwired into other species)...this is the reason for the flexibility and the confusion of the human intellect. Humans have almost no hardwiring left to guide us through the vast, complex network of signals we call “Nature.” Culture is humanity’s attempt to compensate for this lack of hardwiring. Unfortunately, unlike genetic hardwiring, humans have attempted to make their conceptual “softwiring” impervious to influence by environmental and experiential forces. Two mechanisms can cause this to happen: In the west our cultures deliberately deprived their members of contact with their “Dreamingscapes” (described below), while the cultures of the east insisted their members regard their “Wakingscapes” as purely illusion. This meant that in each type of culture fully one-half of each human was grossly underdeveloped and distrusted, if not outright demonized. Unfortunately, these two scapes must be developed simultaneously in order to create a fully functional human being capable of operating constructively within the earth environment. It is time to reinstitute parity with our “original nature (which is a process, not a state,” which consists of both of these realms and their conscious cultivation throughout our lifetimes.

The Realm of our Wakingscape is the source of:

ethical judgments (evidence weighed in the cerebral cortex)
mental potential
systematic processes
focus
logic

We have a Dreamingscape. In this realm information from inside our bodies, as experienced by the entire neural network, is stored and processed. This network talks to the organizing layers of our brain via sensation, image, scent, juxtaposition, emotion, and pattern. We experience this communication as dreams and altered states of consciousness.

The Realm of our Dreamingscape is the source of:

moral judgments (evidence weighed in the heart--see experimental evidence from the HeartMath Institute)
emotional potential
metaphoric processes
faith (release)
the labyrinth -- the maze -- the test of the sibyl
synchronicity
direct awareness

We have a Fatescape. This realm is the synthesis of the waking- and dreamscapes into a functional, seamless whole. This is the vaunted Middle Path of most religio-mystical traditions. These traditions, like the shattari method of sufi dance meditation, yoga, and elemental movement (or any system simultaneously utilizing bodywork, breathwork, visualization, music, puzzles, and meditation techniques) are excellent ways to integrate the two human experiential “scapes.” It is in the realm of the Fatescape that the self is created by a conscious act of the will. Whatever is created in this space becomes realized potential.

The Realm of of our Fatescape is the source of:

Deja vu: the conscious brain suddenly recognizes, in the outer world, patterns previously experienced while in a dreaming or altered state (this sensation is especially sparked by dreams that are not consciously remembered).
Self-realization.

Objective evidence from my life....the first 30 years of my life were spent trying to live according to the patterns required of a woman in my society. I knew I was living against my own will and my own potential because my dreams told me this every night, but I didn’t yet have a clue about how to do otherwise. My dreams reflected this stifled potential, which I chose to vent in secret extensive daydreams and by experimenting with altered states of consciousness brought on by various means, including chemical. These day and night dream “secrets” became the fulcrum around which my choices revolved, though I didn’t realize this at that time: for instance, even though my family and friends disapproved, I chose to study Art instead of Pre-med in college, to remain single and take lovers, to study yoga and dance beginning at the “advanced” age of 19, etc, ultimately leading me to consciously experience and fulfill my own potentials. During this period whenever I would deviate from experiences that fostered my potential, I would experience many images of an angry, ignored goddess at the center of a great forest in the midst of a plateau teeming with life...fertile...abundant....dreams of being trapped in a burning building, being lost in a burned out landscape, being chased by nameless, faceless men in FBI trench coats, etc. The minute I started paying attention to the goddess, that is, started paying attention to my will and exploring my potentials via experience again, my dreams shifted to ones of flying, a happy goddess at the center of a business empire in the top of the world trade center, open spaces, and finally, now, to informative and precognitive dreams that illuminate the full experience of each day and give me many clues about how to proceed next.
