What have
you packed for your journey? Throughout our early years we’re asked what
we want to be when we grow up. Then later on in Life, folks will commonly
be heard to inquire, “So, what do you DO?”, as if this one aspect could
possibly sum up our entire identity, as if they would understand. It is
our experiences that make us who we are, yet what we choose to embrace
is the ‘luggage’ we really need to pay attention to…
Many are those I’ve
known who demanded the unquestionable reverence bestowed upon The Old &
Wise, yet sadly have only achieved half of that equation. Then I also look
at how ‘being of an age’ is seen in this culture - not promising... And
I wonder what I will be when I grow old, for I have no intention of growing
up!
I hope to maintain
a growing peace with never knowing all there is to know, to remain in awe
of all that surrounds me, and that my faith will continue to sustain me
in times of pain or doubt. I wish that I may carry my own burdens with
grace and a healthy sense of humour. And naturally, I hope that I am not
a burden to anyone else. I also very much hope that I am comfortable within
a circle of youth, not to fear their vision - as well as that I may find
like peers. I pray that I can laugh at myself and teach others that this
is a gift - not to take oneself too seriously.
You know, I might not
even get there, but I figure this is definitely worth planning for if anything
is… What I pack today will either be “Baggage” or “Supplies”…

piece of luggage is and remains a joyful heart.” - Hermann Lons
Living and learning
with many a burden,
glancing upon Life’s many trials ~
Though bittersweet the journey is,
there’s nothing so precious
as when the heart smiles…
Tasting of tears
or savouring Love,
through crushing pain
or peace within ~
No matter the tune, we dance it all,
but treasure the notes
when the heart wants to sing.
Now is the time to
kindle the spark,
the hope, the whisper that’s always there ~
The Future’s a secret only time will disclose,
but Life holds more riches
for the heart that’s aware…
