Aspects of Being
Seekers often wander the loneliest of roads..... Prophets, Visionaries, and Saints, all loving souls, may have converted a few in their time, but this doesn't mean that their journeys were not marked by scorn, ridicule, condescension, and others' incredulity - and sometimes Death. Even now. Yet, they carried on, and still do. And they are indeed remembered. Past their time and beyond circumstance, they have left, and leave now, legacies that guide us through our journeys. Perhaps the trouble lies in the very effect of that Reverence which we hold in such high esteem....the notion that that they were somehow above Human folly and flaws - That their journeys were 'easy' because they were guided...... Oh, how we long for that security...to look up to someone else...to find another who has transcended our seeming mortal boundaries - and yes they were, and are Teachers. But by putting them up on a pedestal, we separate them from ourselves; we deny ourselves the same opportunity - to exceed the limits we perceive in our own lives...not without obstacles, and not without judgement from others. Nelson Mandela was quoted as saying, "It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us....". True Courage lies in Believing, despite the times, despite the odds - To look 'beyond' and within, and find the same gifts that we are ALL granted...... seeking with open eyes and open hearts..... ~ It is said by some
that we are granted too much Freedom. But perhaps the trouble lies in that
we have not recognized how to use it....
